Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Get out of HP - leave just go

Life on the outside can be good and the reduction in crazy a$$ stress is healthy. This company is failing. Some areas hit harder than others so far and the grind is unrelenting until HPE doesn't exist and Meg gets paid.

I am a mainframe DBA and I continue to get job offers outside of HPE on a Daily Basis. I think my situation is OK because I have outlasted a lot of my contemporaries. Either that or I did a poorer job of retirement planning because I am still working at age 64.

If you have been actively looking for three months and haven't gotten any hits, you're doing something wrong. Don't get desperate; get help and figure out what's wrong with your approach...and fix it. NOW.

I worked at HP Houston as a contractor. Met some good people. The management team was the worst I ever seen, no communication, no interaction with employees, and they seemed to pass this mentality on to their a$$ kissers. Foreigners walk around like they own the place, You probably find every type of iSM in the book there, no values, ethics, just a horrible experience, left and found greener pastures after about 9 months.

When I got laid off last year, my initial job seeking focus was (1) IT Industry (2) 1-2 hour ratio from home (3) apply to tons of positions on the Internet. That strategy was a mega failure, and I wasted almost 3 months of total frustration and desperation. I changed my strategy to (1) Any Industry other than IT (2) Relocate anywhere in the US, and (3) Working directly with a few Agencies and head hunters... In less than a month, I got 2 offers, and accepted one. Big change for my family (and still adapting to it), but we had to evolve yes or yes. My suggestion is to be flexible (you and your family), and refocus your strategy if you don't see things moving. It's about survival... There are a lot of people aggressively looking for jobs out there. It's about being efficient, rather than applying to a million jobs out there on the Internet. I know change is difficult, but the key words in the current job market are flexibility, focus, and perseverance.

Don't give up...there is some downsizing across the industry but it is nowhere near as bad as they want you to think when they tell you no raises this year, etc.
