Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Did you walk?

Curious...how many of you immediately walked when you got your notice vs still reporting doing a "warm hand-off?"

For those of you that got LR'ed there's absolutely no expectation that you need to do ANY work for Cisco for however long you remain on the payroll. Your job should be getting a new job. And if anybody has a manager that expects otherwise, tell him/her to go to hell.

The 6-month period is for a former employee to return as a contractor. 6 months between official layoff date and first day of return.

For US notifications, the "package" includes receiving the first month on the books with full access to the corporate network. Unless you have a specific contract to do something, Managers are told there is no expectation people on the LR list are working post notification, so I am not sure where all the snide comments in this post are coming from about needing to blow off work to do a job search. The company are giving people impacted the time to find another job.

I actually applied for two positions prior to "the boot." Problem is reqs are now flooded with applicants. I also heard that Cisco has a 6-month "cooling off period" before a "boot victim" will be considered again. Not sure how much truth there is to that.

I'm sure there will be some very "warm hand-offs" before this is over. Get disconnected, download the currently available internal reqs list and start updating the resume, all on company time. Go for it, you owe Cisco nothing more that this point.
