If they included the number of contractors cut then it would be much higher.

I don't believe they have to report the number of contractors as contractors aren't "employees." And that person is right, contracts just don't get renewed, etc. It's very quiet...
I think this does not include contractors, contractors they simply don't renew, not related to layoff.
first thing i thought of when i saw the 5k number.
real number is higher, maybe up to 10k.
