The sales meeting cost no more than last year. This year it included all the textbook buyers, who used to have their own meeting. It also generated cash from publisher sponsors. Sales teams at every company have annual meetings. It sets the tone and gets them motivated to bring in the revenue. It also helps with retention. Given FSS is posting strong numbers this year, I think your arguments are invalid.

Should success and shared sacrifice. Follett continually does a great job of alienating and demotivating its workforce.

LOL… I believe the left poster meant to say that sales does make the money… However I would tend to agree the people that support all of the work the operational people are always overlooked it's a freaking shame

Talk about demotivated...yes, sales doesn't make the money, however there are tons of operational people and support people that make all of those things possible as well. Too bad they're not appreciated.

Grunts who do the work don't get the perks. Store people won't see any fluff, only the favored will get the extras. Right now FSS looks like a lifeline, so they got the sweet sales conference. Won't pay off, so that money was not well spent and won't make anyone happy down the road.

They are investing in where they think the future is and giving up on the rest. Bad move or good business. I guess only time will tell.

sales is the lifeblood of the company. no sales = no $$$. Happy sales people = more motivated to sell = more $$$. better to spend money on selling our products than to invest in better developers to make our products better...
