Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The 18th is what people are hearing consistently for notifications.

No % or # has been confirmed but some say they will not be hit because they let people go little by little over FY16.

My Director contact in IT also confirmed the 18th. S/he said there was a two month package + 1 week for every year of service. Don't bank on that but it's what I derived from our conversation.

17 or 18th doesn't compute. Cisco Layoff Days are Tuesdays. Just like

Soylent Green Day.

Makes sense...they're both about pee-hee-hee-ple.

A good manager would go ahead and start putting meetings on the calendar so people have an idea they are hit. Unfortunately in my experience they usually wait until the day before or the morning of to do that so you have no advance notice.

Being here a little over 10 years I survived LRs I just pretend I want to be here starting July and kiss my manager's butt for a good month. Once the LR is over I wait for my bonus then go on vacation for a week all on the house. When I return I take it easy until July and start all over.

My old Cisco friends tell me that their managers are already scheduling 1 on 1's for Aug 17 and 18.

Unfortunately none of us will really know until the 18th. Best thing is to be shopping your resume now if you have not been doing so already.

We had one person leave our dept over the past year, hopefully that will appease the LR gods...

Yes, keep hearing the 18th - any idea what the package will be?

Does this mean marketing is safe? We lost 150-200 people last Oct/Feb/May.
