Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Missed a spot

They let GT go, they dumped DG. Why is SS still employed? If you are going to clean house, why not complete it?

I was laid off in February. My director and fellow manager both went to India several months before I was laid off.

Vendor management offices - Well from what they have produced as far as usable applications then the Recommendation should be to close them, they are pretty worthless, unless they just like throwing money in what seems to be a bottomless pit.

Once again VERIFIED, no proof. You have seen nothing, done nothing all lying garbage. Stay in your basement and hurl you're impotent rage. Not smart enough to lead, to arrogant follow and too stupid to get out of the way

Infosys doesn't even have the

talent to customize a POS system when it had code to replicate. Incompetent consultants.

More lies. The major companies other than apple which is now based in Ireland don't have the core development centers in India. Just the usual non core business areas.

VERIFIED-Quarterly! At least that gravy train for directors and vp's has ended. Perhaps share some of those cost savings with the developers. OMG vendor management offices. Get real and get on the phone and video and talk to the other teams regardless of where they are. Follett doesn't need to pay your vacation expenses and build your air mile awards.

Sorry for some of these people who are ignorant.

The reality is we are living in a world where Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Apple, Target, Sony, Groupon, Unilever, Expedia, Panasonic, FireEye, Abbott, General Motors, JP Morgan Chase and many many more corporations and conglomerates have their own captive development centers in India. These organizations have their own Vendor Management offices. In these organizations developers, business analyst, managers, architects and their IT leaders travel to their development center in India more than once each year.

Guys, let's accept the challenge, work on acquiring/ improving our skills and move on with life. God Speed.

You have seen nothing.......because the frequency of the trips is nowhere near what you say. If you have seen the expense reports then you will know all the cities that have been visited and you will know all the employees that have gone on these trips. Should be pretty simple to prove your assertions.

SS and his team go to India at least quarterly. Fact. Have finance dept pull travel invoices and expense reports. I've seen the documents. He has very close ties to consulting team used in outsourcing IT. Vendors are not paying for his trips.

Are you saying there have not been dozens of trips to India by SS and RM teams? It is a FACT. They were on a quarterly cycle.

Actually it is slap in the face for those of us who cut expenses only to have the home office go on trips to India at the company's and stores expense. Have you ever heard of phones/teleconferencing? Why?

Dear Field guys, I think most at home office know you are overworked under appreciated underpaid...and given systems and processes that often make things worse. Not trying to compare...but seriously, who is it on the board that is standing behind the SS contract? I wonder if it's a 5 year commitment?

Dear IT guys, being introduced to the new boss and hearing that you don't know what you're doing has been happening in the stores for more than 10 years. It's how this company operates. Face it, being told they're outsourcing is saying you don't know what you're doing. I've had a couple of new directors come in a tell us that. In each case, those were the worst directors ever. Turns out, they didn't know what they were doing. Imagine that!

I remember the day that arrogant prick was first introduced to IT in Westmont. First thing that pond scum told the family of workers that gathered to meet their new boss ....he is outsourcing Big Time. ...and that's how we are gonna start getting things done. I despised him instantly. I never supported him, and I sure the F didn't go to that lame a-- baby shower...despite getting multiple reminders. As far as his track record, there are many many large outsourced projects that have failed. He must have a superior contract. And despite The fact that he seems to destroy everything he touches, projects, people, ideas, pride....the board isn't allowing leadership to replace him. Who is on the board these days?

Wow what a job, allowed more than a 50% failure rate, bully people around then fire everyone then hire their cronies and the icing on the top .... get paid and travel expenses to visit back home. whoa !

OMG do you work for SS or is this SS? 1) "More than 2/3 of the original IT employees are no longer at Follett, replaced with 150+ offshore consultant." If you have to hire 3x times as many to do the same job you do the math.

2) "Keep in mind that offshore costs are less than 1/4 of the cost of an internal employee." Nope, you have not seen the numbers, the company is paying a consultant company not the people that work for them who pad so many hours it's comical.

3) Whoops again! " the delivery record for any IT group is less than 50% success", these projects aren't startups we are talking about getting a new POS to production and similar type projects. Yep you must be aligned to SS somehow with your thinking ... haha

SS drove costs out of IT which is what he was brought on to do. Lets face it, the delivery record for any IT group is less than 50% success. More than 2/3 of the original IT employees are no longer at Follett, replaced with 150+ offshore consultant. Keep in mind that offshore costs are less than 1/4 of the cost of an internal employee.
