I changed work buildings and the onsite RE contractor mentioned many employees badge in and out to work off site. Woukd HPE risk even deeper disgust by employees and industry by actually checking daily IP activity? Read it here but want it to be a rumour. Anyone have specific info other than someone told me....? Thanks.

This isn't a 'check on employees' but a security thing. You won't believe the crap that gets spotted on the network and you can be sure that additional monitoring and assessments are being made about who is doing what.
And that VPN stuff, that's to make sure you dot share your access badge and connect in from home - that's a security breach and a major risk!!!
There are absolutely no reports shared with supervisors regarding IP data. I know this for a fact.
You would be a fool to think they were not doing this. How do you think they have been catching people who swiped their cards and turn around and go home and log in. They have been doing this since they started running badge reports.
To be fair, many probably would have said the same about the badge checks before they were implemented - not enough resources, other things to worry about, etc. if the CEO has time to put post its on your monitor of course they can find time and resources for this.
Someone in another thread seemed credible when he/she claimed to have access to management info and said there's no initiative to check VPN/IP usage. It's been a rumor for a while, but I think it started with people guessing that that would be the next step after the badge-swipe reports. I agree with those who said the company couldn't afford the staff and time to do such a check.
Yes. They want you to be disgusted and leave, it's cheaper than paying severence and there is always someone cheaper to take your place.
