Maybe they should farm out their position. Have that crossed any of their minds?

To paraphrase the immortal Ashley J. Williams, the Permian Unconventional wells produce two things...jack and sh*t...and jack left town.
They make 3 to 5 barrels of water for every barrel of oil produced. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that those wells s---. Of course they probably fail to mention the excessively high water production to the ELT, so they can continue making their uninformed decisions.
