@IAWm45R-1owg, FYI: I am not the OP. The resistance is coming organically--from within.

Hopefully, those who stay are people who have ethics and an interest in the long-term survival of University of Phoenix, and the long-term success of ALL its students, former students, and alumni.

If you want someone to blame, blame Todd S. Nelson and his cronies.

When you take the severance they don't contest unemployment. You can milk the unemployment for six months. Forget working under those conditions. It is like a slave labor camp at that place. No amount of pay is worth working a service job there.

@IAWm45R-1gtb, let me guess, you're management. What's the incentive again to quit?

Of course people need to look for work, but why should they quit? Why should they make it easier for the hatchet man or hatchet woman?

Why make it easier for the vulture Leon Black?

Be smart and quit. They only need some of you to complete the buy out, then you're fired. Better update your resume and apply like crazy starting today. Don't wait, don't be paralyzed by fear. The longer you wait the harder it will be to find a job as most companies hire during the summer and some in January. Plus with major layoffs at UOP that means more competition. If you don't act now you could be out of work for more than a year, which could destroy your savings and that's if you have any. Anyone interested in doing a university walkout tomorrow? #QuitUOP

Are they doing voluntary layoffs now? If so, how many do they need?

Food for Thought: As an organization winds down, the severance packages tend to diminish in value. There is no labor law that specifies that people with the same position have to get the same severance package over time. Or any severance package. The longer you hang on, the lower the severance - if any - tends to be. Also, "voluntary" lay-offs tend to disappear over time. If you want/need to be in control of your destiny, take a voluntary package now, or significantly ramp up your search process. As the OP points out, the longer you wait, the more you will compete with larger numbers of your peers for fewer jobs. Plan B: Ignore the obvious and hang around waiting for a miracle.

Don't quit? Wait to take the severance and hope you get a job before your money runs out? When you're competing with a bunch of your coworkers who were laid off at the same time and have the exact same skills and experience? Great idea.
