I'm under the impression HPE provides a lot of services to financial institutions in the UK, and with the financial sector in so much turmoil there right now, I can see it as an easy justification to shed much of Enterprise Services employees there, rather than in the US (and move operations to lower cost Dublin). Any thoughts? It's bad to think of this as "us or them" but HPE was going to lay off a certain amount of employees anyway.

Well that's the thing, they have always intended to shed workers, but of course they'll use any excuses they can to depict this as being related to economic issues outside of their control.
When I was there they used flooding in Taiwan as an excuse because they supposedly couldn't fill customer orders due to hard drive shortages.
