I'm an adjunct and we received a three question survey about faculty recognition and how we'd prefer to be recognized. I'm not sure if this relates to the quarterly recognitions @FTF mentioned. If it does, then the program is not FTF specific.

@FTF- I actually think we can see something telling when we look at the criteria for the nominations: scholarship, service, good reviews (innovation/teaching excellence). My assumption is that anyone with these three things will be towards the top of the "keep" list. The point was made towards the end of the FTF meeting last week when the director said to make more calls, add more comments to papers, and so forth should we feel worried about layoffs. I'm sure they're tracking this, and my guess is that the next round of evals before the new fiscal year will help them make any cuts they might need to make.

They just rolled out quarterly faculty recognition awards in various areas, rather than one annual faculty award. Is that a good sign?

I don't think managers are lying to us. I don't think they genuinely don't know, and I think some of their jobs are probably more threatened than ours. I'm not counting on having a job next year. I'll be happy if I do, but I'm not counting on it. I also wonder if the focus on scholarship will be used to weed out faculty who regularly publish, and therefore create positive pr, and those that don't. That doesn't bode well for me.

After the lack of answers at today's all FTF meeting, I think this post is touching on something relevant. Two things stood out.

First, the meeting format was odd. I can understand not wanting to open the phone line to a bunch of questions, but I was surprised the WebEx chat was also silenced.

Second, there were no details shared! The lack of data was a concern, as was the lack of details regarding the new SSS classes and the FTF's role in teaching them. The recent GFM had more details about these classes. I don't think the admins on the line were hiding things; indeed, it almost sounds like they're being cut out of the loop themselves. That's a huge red flag.
