If you are lucky enough to have a job why not send a laid off person a coffee gift certificate, take them out to lunch or just send them an email. Next time it could be you who is out of a job.

Overworked, unappreciated, now glad to be gone from a company where brown nosing goes a long way. APC spent like there was no tomorrow and it caught up. Smart thing to do: consolidate back to Houston, leaving a North field office. Good luck to everyone.
It really was an awesome package and thank you Anadarko. No more going to work waiting for the axe to fall. I just received my pension and it is even better than I thought. Again, Anadarko did us right and I appreciate it. No handouts needed here, but thanks for even thinking about it.

a little pity will go a long way to boosting their morale. but coffee is an extravagance. rather than loading them up with coffee gift cards why not send them anonymous bags of canned goods and cheese, clean out your closets and leave bags of clothes on their front porches, or at least clip coupons and send them anonymously in the mail. you will bring a tear to the eye.
