Trying to understand the union mindset

I have a few questions for union members on strike. I won't be surprised to be called names or receive less than thought out responses from this site but I figured I'd ask.

For background, I am a non-union VZ employee working an EWA. I want to understand the mindset of the union workers.

The CWA has been calling VZ "greedy" because they earned a profit of $4.22 billion in 2015. Why is a company greedy for earning a profit? Do you realize that they have a legal obligation to attempt to maximize that profit for the shareholders? Shareholders that include retirees and pension funds? Do you get it that if they operate at a loss, you have no job? Any company is under no obligation to share that profit with the employees, none.
Lowell McAdam earned $18 million as CEO. Rather than piss and moan about it have you ever stopped to wonder what he did to become CEO and why you arent't??
You complain about the VZ raw profit amount. Do you know what VZ's "profit margin" was? Do you even know what a profit margin is and why it's important? Do you know how it compares to other companies?
so if VZ is greedy for earning $4.22 billion, how much profit should they earn and how do you arrive at that amount?

This whole mess is part of the economic ignorance that pervades most of the world these days. It's all fair this and fair that without any quantitative definition of what FAIR is. Wake up, life isn't fair. Ditch the union put on your big person pants and take care of yourself.

@fho Sorry to burst your bubble, but I still have both parents very much alive and involved in my life. My dad is an Attorney and my mother is a Psychiatrist. One grandfather is a retired Judge, and the other a retired surgeon. I come from a very well educated and well bred family from both sides of the family tree. It's unfortunate that you automatically assume someone is from a single parent home. I know it's the normal lifestyle in the trailer park, but for normal people in polite society, it's not the norm. There's no reason in today's time for you to be so grubby looking. Take some pride in yourself, and use soap when you take your weekly flea bath. I just enjoy watching your little brains short circuit when you're trying to come up with a response. I think it's interesting to watch you all try to be relevant. As my parents always told me, there are people who matter and there others who don't.
