The company thinks no more of a union member than they do some manager on EWA- the difference is the manager cowers in fear of their job everyday and may very well not have one to go back to when this is over- the union, for all of its faults, at least puts up a fight- it's that fight or flight instinct- managers have the flight instinct- when the company beats them down, they run to their cubicle and cower- waiting for the next beating. At least the union man or woman has the stones, even it it's futile at times, to put up a fight and at least give it a shot- this is why their are so many angry transparent posts here from those who are obviously managers who have been beaten over and over again and the only thing they can do is go home and kick the dog or yell at the wife and kids.
