@1myp.......VZ IT workers' jobs have been shipped to India and they will not come back....as far as finding jobs in open market ...there is a glut of IT jobs and they wont make as much as VZ was paying them.

@1bpc .... good for you. You are one of the few with that ability. Most are not and they will end up doing similar clerical type work / office work at half the wage. I am glad you will do so well; most of us will not.

@1myp, speak for yourself. I am not management but I can go anywhere I want to. I'm not limited to just telecommunications.
This is why Lowell Mcadam wants everyone fired. He don't care about "ma bell" past. His boss is Wall Street and sadly that is The REAL truth.
@1ych .... as several supervisors have said to me over the last several years "RIF? No problem; I will just go to work somewhere else".
Those of us in craft are limited to the telecommunications field for the most part. How many phone companies are hiring? Management on the other hand have a far larger number of opportunities than we craft. Especially if they are trained in IT, web, software, etc.
We are screwed. The management will make out far, far better.
If the union doesn't come back, here comes the rifs! Wont be any need for supervisors with no staff! Do you think they are gonna let you sit around a drink coffee all day? Nope...ya gone too!

I started out sympathetic to the union side. 5 minutes on this board is enough to show that the quality of people in the union isn't what it used to be. They don't deserve it.
