May 20th is a big deal and does carry significance with it if the Union signs the contract. Read paragraphs 4 and 5. http://money.cnn.com/2016/05/16/news/companies/obama-administration-verizon-strike/

The date means something only to Verizon.
The time away from home "temporary job relocation" is a huge issue with the Union. This is an important date/provision.
Who cares if they nullify portions of the contract by a certain date. They can still be bargained for in the future. Move on. To many wanna be attorney's here.
lxt. It is not a threat in any way. It is an incentive. They've put something on the table for the union to accept. If they don't agree and sign, they take the incentive away.
So much ignorance being spewed here. Time dependent clauses are completely legal. Per the LBFO you have until 5/20 to sign or certain portions of the offer are nullified. The DOL intervention would not change that unless the company and union choose to use arbitration.
That date is exactly a threat. Saying if you don't sign by the 20th then we will take away your job security and move you where ever we want. THAT IS A THREAT. That is illegal and can not be used in barganning in good faith. The company made a poor decision with putting that in an offer, that is not bargaining.
The date means nothing now that the DoL is involved and actually didn't mean anything before to begin with. Whatever firm Verizon is using is employing the same textbook attack against unions with poor results.
It was only for union members. Its killing you not knowing. Get the information from Verizon's calls, or their website. O yeah, that's right they don't post updates, they keep you in the dark and feed you want they want you to know in BS emails.
Both the date and the provision were inquired about on an "all hands " call. Executives from HR confirmed both.
Why wasn't the call made public what's Twinkie Rd hiding
You must not read what you post. Paragraph 4 and 5 mention nothing about May 20. Actually the whole article has no mention about May 20th. Shutup sit down you moron.
@Hrfe4i3 , Where have you been? Living in a cave? This is very old news and doesn't mean anything. Big bad Verizon has to have a date? If they could have done something they would have done it by now. They had over 2 years to prepare.
