The people that make this company go round are the union workers. Management makes me sick. You do nothing except come up with stupid rules to try to justify your own job. "Oh crap, I haven't done sh-- lately, I better make some new rule up or process to follow so I look like I'm actually doing something here." And all that does is bog the real workers down from doing the real work around here. And you know it. Your not lazy...your just useless and holding on for dear life.

We do so much of what management is supposed to do now. We can stop that when we get back and we will see who owns who. I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way.
At least we have a union thug admitting to cutting corners.
Wow, we have management tough guys, try fighting for something for yourself, dummies. By the book really, if the techs did everything by your book, that's 1 job a day, dopes.
fuk u mrg - hope u stroke
@MRG , Hit one for rest of us management (career band 5,6) EWA-ers too (ewa-2011, rif'd-2014), remind them of what "going by the book" really means when they get back. i.e 8am start means 8am, not sitting at desk drinking coffee and start 8:15 or so.
My manager led by example. Would sh*t all over everyone.
Try again.
Yes and all the craft are outstanding produces and learners.
My manager had a meeting to enforce stretching techniques before pole climbing
@jck couldn't have summed it up better!
You can change the pr and possibly get a repeater and be done with the job in 15min
Or u can find the trouble which can be a few hours or weeks
Managers say to change the pr
Customers say your 20th guy to work on the line in the past 20days
Of course skycreek surveys will be bad
No fios is a bad skycreek
Customers think its techs fault fios is not available
My manager teaches me how to pick up a box, use sunscreen, put my cellphone in a bin, how to chock the truck, many other things. He completes me.
Worked FSC for five years.....First day on floor, managers doing floor walking support. One female manager stuck out like sore thumb. Had her figured out in about 30 minutes.......knew absolutely nothing, referred any question to someone else. On weekends she was only manager on duty...her routine was to walk around the office, then find a cube to hide in and make sure her laptop screen could not be seen if anyone accidentally found her. Perhaps 3 out of 20 "managers" could actually sit down and work with you on a problem and assist in navigating the many systems to do the job. In the world I came from tech managers came up through the ranks and knew the job they now managed. Not the case here. Managers do not take the tough irate calls, they have no power to move techs when emergency situations dictate. They sit and listen to calls and tell me what I should have said. No two people will approach a situation the same and opinions are very subjective. Verizon is classic case of way too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Managers can tell me to the hundredth of a second how long I went to the bathroom, but unable or unwilling to get a tech onto a critical customer down situation. Verizon needs to completely revamp their service delivery method. In a past position (21 years) We where formed into high performance self managing teams. We delivered 100% customer sat for years with next to no management intervention. Verizon needs to do away with all these useless managers and put the power where it belongs.....with the frontline troops who actually have the knowledge to resolve the problem and provide a positive customer experience.
Bring it on!!! By the way how are you finding time to read this mindless crap. Get back to work. We all have stories and no one wants to hear yours. We're all pissed
I don't think personal attacks really help matters and are actually not beneficial to union workers or management workers. Should I take offense at being called a scab as I am "forced" to crossing the picket lines each day in order to keep my job with Verizon? I've sat in an associates shoes way to often in my career with Bell Atlantic/Verizon and have a real appreciation for the day to day things which the associates go through, as well as the work most perform. I also appreciate the shear genius of a number of management employees I have worked with who have developed products (not rules..) which have helped the company evolve into a competitive communications company. A few bad apples in management and/or the associate pool do not earmark either organization...
yjg ,
How are they doing the work load? Are you insinuating they have 40,000 non union workers doing the same work load? or 20,000 non union workers doing the work load?
To the OP. You think we made you sick before? When you come back, IF you come back, you'll find out just how bad the job can really be. Every single day. I'm a pissed off EWA. I can't believe my direct reports were this effing stupid. I blame them 100% for my lost time. And believe me, they will pay.
I've been here 26 years, management is to blame for everything including lazy workers. When you take your car into get the transmission to get repaired you expect it to be fixed. The company wants us to put sawdust in it and hopefully it holds for a few days. Since productivity and dicipline for the lack of it the plant has been decaying rapidly, 1st liners used to be able to allow techs on long duration jobs to do the job right(rebuild transmission). Now they get hammered from above, the main reason wireline has less customers is because of poor quality. If a customer has hsi and it works well they rarely leave but the company pushes higher productivity and the bandaid approach, our techs only fix their pair instead of the whole cable. This is the way most techs work even on fios because management has pushed us there. This was either the plan from the beginning of the Verizon regime to destroy wireline or
the upper mamagement had no idea what customer service was. How many times would any of you return to that transmission shop after a couple of times? Verizon is hurting its brand name.
@unl - That's the silliest thing anyone ever said. "your doing the work load that the union did with less people". Less people? Part of your silly statement is correct though. EWA is doing the workload.
gyk , The union stays for the same reasons you keep posting on here. They have nothing better to do, and nobody can stop them.
The EWA's on here saying Verizon is still moving , should stop milking the company out of the overtime pay. If the company is moving along and your capable/ / trained then you should not need overtime to do the work. Stated many times ,your doing the work load that the union did with less people.
If the union really wanted to hurt the company they should all quit and go to the higher paying jobs I'm sure are waiting them and their highly talented skills. Bet upper management is just shaking in their boots over the thought of loosing many of the highly skilled union workers.
They claim they are fighting to keep great jobs (call center) in America!!
But what they say instead:
Vz sucks
Mgmt sucks
Everyone sucks
Yo momma sucks
I once had a dog who had a cousin who wanted FIOs and they sucked too.
And the UNION WILL SAVE US ALL.
Seriously if the job sucks do like every adult does and move along in your career to another job. BUT if you are truly fighting for something then it doesn't make sense to sh*t on the brand that puts the Cheerios in your bowl in the morning.
Your right about ridiculous processes that slow things down. Quit your bitchin though. Some techs get it. It just adds more OT at the end of the day for you. At least you get paid OT for having to work longer. I'm in an hour before you come in and sometimes the last to leave and I get nothing.
You got that argument backwards. Most craft can easily become management but few management can easily go craft.
Union has not been working for over a month.....company still "going round."
If you don't like it, then go work for another company and quit crying already. And you say the Union members are the ones that make the company "go round". Management stepped up and do your work and the company is still moving without you. That makes me think if management went on strike and union members had to fill in, this company would go bankrupt ASAP!
Need to take it easy on management. Once the strike is over 25% of them will be RIF'd.
Both sides are micromanaged and both side are equally to blame, just go with the flow and everything work out.
Looks like a hit a nerve. BAM!
In response to the previous comment....I don't drink coffee.
We can't all be as smart as you like it was real smart going out on strike in an economic downturn...jerk
In response to the last comment....I don't drink coffee!
This gave me my first laugh of the day. Poor little union pinhead is upset that he doesn't have what it takes to make it in management. And all those dang rules that make him actually work are hurting his little feelings. Poor baby, I know it sucks having to actually work, but that's what you're being paid to do. I realize you spend 7 hours of your day sleeping in the truck, giving handjobs to your buddies, and standing around scratching your balls and drinking coffee. So it must really stress you having to work for an hour under those mean ole rules! Suck it up buttercup. You're a pathetic loser who will never be more than a cog in the wheel. Your greatest accomplishment in life will be getting your delinquent son out of high school without a rap sheet, and your daughter out of middle school with only 4 hairy backed kids that society has to support. You're useless, and one of the most repugnant stains on the underwear of society.
The union makes up a small and nearly insignificant part of Verizon. It certainly does not make the company around
You described my supervisor perfecteky!!!,, she Iwas a clerk before becoming an I T manager,, you have to see her trying to implement anything, was very sad
"You sir are not bright"
You may be right...I was asked to be a manager.
Not all management are bright just as not all union are lazy. You sir, are not bright
