Looks like VZ is starting the week off bad. Federal Government has told them to play nice. Based on the tone from Mudge they are in the hook and this is now in court of public opinion. They now have competition on the Yahoo deal.
Do you come back to work with good faith supervised bargaining? This does not seem like mediation but supervised bargaining.
Perhaps a framework can be put in place by the weekend to get everyone back. I suspect DOL is going to care for bullshit ting from either side.

What's up with assuming Verizon wasn't negotiating? By law they have to come to the table. And they have. Verizon also offered mediation.
This move was to push the union leadership to come to the table. I personally don't think it's going to go anywhere without concessions by the union side. Replacement workers are already spinning up for the job so not a big deal.

Actually, no, the DOL got involved because of total inaction on the part of the union since Verizon issued its LBFO a few weeks ago. DOL just trying to make the union get serious about ending this thing instead of causing its members to lose even more money.

VZ would never try any underhanded s it. They are always above board. Except when they hide money offshore, avoid taxes, renege on commitments to build Fios, lie to local governments, treat employees like garbage, bring in tons of H1Bs to replace American workers, offshore jobs.....
