I have heard several versions of what happens on that date. Can someone please explain in a serious way? No "the day the union dies" BS

I'll tell you exactly what will happen on 5/20. NOTHING! The company has already moved on. The "temps" are coming in by the thousands. In a couple months the EWAS will go back to business as usual and this whole fiasco will be quickly forgotten.
Why lockout? I think the company will declare an impasse at which point they are allowed to hire permanent replacements. The union can file a ULP charge with the NLRB but there is no guarantee that they will rule in favor of the union. A dangerous gamble in my opinion.
Say bye bye Union !!!
Both the CWA and IBEW will be gone! RIP.
Guess the lazy assoutside strikers will have to find another company who will let them sleep all day in their trucks.
5/20 is the effective "lock out" date. That's the date when if the union doesn't come back the company will fill their jobs with other employees.
I for one am praying that we have the union back by that date because if not they won't be coming back.
5/20 is the day that, if Union does not accept the last offer, then VZ starts deploying thousands of contractors to really dig in for the long haul. If this isn't over by 5/20, expect it to go on indefinitely.
I don't think it's a lockout or anything, but Verizon doubling down and removing some of the improvals of the last offer in the contract. My logical thinking is, Verizon has calculated that if they are to spend the funds that they are for a strike to go past 5/20, they feel they should get an even better contract than the last offer.
This all seems very, very calculated.
The items in the contract with a 5/20 off the table date are related to how far and long they can ask you to commute to a job.
@tjm - Who is Mooney and why do I already trust his opinion?
There were certain things the company said would be included in the contract if ratified by 5/20... after that, they're off the table. I can't recall what they were- but were spelled out in an email/announcement right before the union said they would announce a strike 4/13
Its the day the Union dies
Mooney says nothing happens. Not sure I believe that though.
EWA Manager here,
I heard it's the day Verizon kicks those Union scum out!
Verizon will be a better company when May 20th comes!
