Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Look at everything this company is asking of its non union workers..and yet they still don't give you a pension or medical when they are done.

Just hope this wonderful CEO who represents this Company will be as dedicated to you as you all seem to him and it. May you enjoy watching you and your coworkers jobs go to India, and as many of you all move to Texas after all departments that are left get transferred there.

But then again, India and Texas maybe where you can live on just a 401k.

Because you wont have anything to picket for. Think big not small, you actually could have all three, Pension, medical and your ONE AND ONLY 401K 6 % match.

I'm a glass in half full, not empty.

this company is asking you all to work very hard and pull you away from your families, for what???? Seriously.. When it's time to let you go because your job has gone to India, you will ask that question..What for? I have no medical to retire with, no pension and only my 6% 401K match..

Left Verizon management years ago to work with Nextel then Sprint and now Crown Castle. Verizon was a f---ing joke. I thank every day that I left that sh--hole. My supervisors were pathetic and I would have spent my last 15 years rotting there because being a hard working Engineer meant nothing. The atmospher was nothing about growth but one of saving your ass Nextel was a great company to work for and appreciated my skill and hard work. Sprint not so much...same mindset as Verizon. CC is another great company to work for.

Anyone in management who chooses to wait To be RiFfed or to be crapped all over by EWA assignments and doesn't go out and take there skills and market them into a real career is worthless in my book. I personally wouldn't hire a manager who waited for this company to get rid of them. I know...because I've worked with you types there.

You really aren't as marketable as you think....

Good luck

I medical we get is great and I do not want a pension. I like my company matched 401k where I can control where the money is invested. There are way to many pensions that are underwater and "borrowed from". When I retire, I am not going to have to picket because someone is trying to change my benefits. I am the master of my own future not a political pawn.

Honestly, I hate social security! I wish the government didn't take my taxes on that and I could use that money to manage my own retirement.

No medical when you retire! When you get laid off in your 50's and have to live off that 6% 401k match you are so ok with, you will wish you had a pension when you are 70 living only on social security. Dont be so easy to settle for less when you are worth more.

They've got Lowells thanks and admiration. Tell that to the Dr. and bill collectors. Sad how this has turned from a company of loyal dedicated employees, that took care of them, that cared for the customer.

Now its this bloated, debt loaded, hated company.

Well done Lowell. You earned the $18 miilion plus benefits plus perks.

Sleep well you POS. You destroyed a loyal work force and customer caring company to this sinking ship called VERIZON.

Actually we have the best medical benefits in the industry, but we agree to pay a nominal amount towards them so we can continue having the best benefits in the industry.

Yeah the pension is a bummer, but most EWAers have very large salaries (definitely the top tier for the industry) and get 6% matching in our 401(k) so we're ok with it.
