The shareholders would never back the union as their proposal would increase VZ's operating costs and therefore reduce the company's profits. Any attempt by the union to appeal to the shareholders is ridiculous.

At this point, the union is grasping at straws and looking anywhere to try and find hope and support. It's becoming very apparent that the media and general public couldn't care less about the strike, and the customers are sticking with Verizon. This big implosion they assumed would happen when they walked has yet to happen, and won't happen. They have lost every round of PR with the public, and the union negotiators have lost every round at the table. I respect the fact the union is going down fighting, but it's obvious to everyone except them, this thing is over.

I am sure they want the union out too.

Also many of Verizon's shareholders are past and present employees, I'm sure this isn't going to go over well.

Most stockholders would like a tentative contract. And the company would love to announce one.

We are here to stay whether you like it or not just to be a thorn in your side. All this is is a nice extended break courtesy of scabs and the company. The union will be back, even if it is with a crappy contract.
