Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Time for mediation!

Let’s just agree to the mediation already and split the difference on the last few remaining issues. It’ll be better than being on strike for several months and having the same result. The 30 year pension also by the way shouldn’t be an issue as most guys I speak to plan on leaving at 30 if lucky enough to get that far.

No way. We agreed to mediation last time and it didn't work out for us. It's time for THEM to give back.

Why would Verizon give an inch. They have been planning this union bust since the last strike. They have the union right where they want them.

Right or wrong, verizon has the advantage.

Agree 100 %. Maybe ibew and cwa should ask the membership if we want them to go to mediation on our behalf instead of just assuming we want to continue following them blindly.

The closing of the small call centers is another thing to consider giving in a bit on. Closing of garages and work location has been going on for years already. It sucks but other have long commutes too.

I meant the “30 year pension freeze” to correct myself. CWA should just give in to this one. Not many stay past 30.
