Strikes don't end up in brand damage. Unions have been around since the beginning of time and everyone from Chrysler to AT&T to Verizon and the airlines have had them.

Brand damage is just wishful thinking that the unions have. In reality most people don't even know Verizon is having a strike right now, and those that know don't really have an opinion (the people who do have an opinion, for the most part, are against the union. Unions have a bad reputation for being outdated, overbearing, and entitled).

The only long lasting damage likely to come out of this one is the union members' careers. The union doesn't have any leverage since they work for the smallest part of the company financially, and if the rumored lockout happens they will be scrambling for jobs. Most companies these days stay away from hiring union people because of their sense of entitlement.
