I enjoyed my time at HP and I knew I would be part of a WFR because HPE had no interest in investing and leading the products I was part of, they let it fall behind the competition. I highly recommend anybody who is at HPE to look at companies that are thriving vs surviving. Meg Whitman is not interested in propagating the culture of HPE and is not driving the company strategy successfully.

This is what happens when you have a CEO with no real vision - buzzwords? Yes. Vision? No. And to think she doesn't get an iota of the hate that Fiorina or Hurd got...

Local Teams now are even put under India managment . And once they transferred their knowledge you know what's happening. I see a lot of hiring and grow in India teams. HPE's customers will feel the pain in the future.

@cnwq They can't relocate everyone in California. When they shut down Cupertino, a lot of people were screwed until they acquired 3PAR and many folks were shuffled into the Fremont location. Now that they're shutting down the 3PAR Fremont site (where most folks are not TS), they are sending the Fremont people to the new Aruba building that they're constructing in Santa Clara near Great America. They claim they don't want to screw everyone over who has bought homes there and established a life there. Not sure if they'll fit everyone at the new site but I wonder how many jobs are safe?

Do you think mass layoffs will happen within 3PAR?

Each organization has hired an HR Location strategist to also guide them on layoffs. Announcement at high level meeting is that most of California offices will be shutdown and work will be located back to Boston, Texas and other cheap Southern locations. Timeframe within 2 years. Large parts of service and support will be in 3rd world countries. Where is Donald Trump when we need ya!!!

Some of the brightest and most talented people but of course the dumbest of managers and directors were saved. People were told in Announcement by the VP in HR learning and development training in all hands meeting this week that more drastic wfrs coming.

@HZtlIFW-1bei, @HZtlIFW-2hki. I disagree, it's part of a game, a strategy play. If you had a business you would certainly do the same... Let's note generalize everything. Thank you.

To answer your question about severance packages, HPE changed their severance policy earlier this year, which greatly reduced the amount that was previously offered. This was done obviously ahead of the massive (+30%) layoffs planned for later in 2016. The new severance package is basically 2 months if you have been at HPE for 11 years or less. For every year past 11 that you worked, you get an additional 2 day's pay. So if you put in 20 years with the company, you would get a total of 3 months pay.

@3wbr I'm sorry to read this, but hopefully you will find a better situation for your and your family. Was the (new) standard severance offered? Or did they find a way to be crafty?

Since I started this thread, let me update it for everyone. I was one of the 15% of the HPE workforce that received their two-week notice on Monday of this week. The 15% reduction was across the board in the Americas, with a large portion coming from the elimination of industry verticals (which were heavy with managers and upper-income earning positions).

There is supposedly a second round of layoffs coming in three weeks which will be another 15% reduction in the workforce. After this second round of layoffs, and with the recent spin-off of the ES (EDS) group, HPE should be down to around 35,000 employees. Any buyers?

HPE does not value any employee except the ones that are in UPPER MANAGEMENT. It does not matter if you have the greatest performance rating or you have sold millions of dollars, or you have excellent technical sales experience in different industries and segments; we are just a headcount number to downsize and look good for WALL STREET.

They talk about the great culture and balance living and job security is less then "NULL".

Most companies achieve great revenue profit selling services and this company is going the reverse they getting rid of SERVICES, INDUSTRIES people with experience and tell the world they are selling Solutions to solve customer's problem that is joke. Let be real HPE is selling HARDWARE and will continue selling HARDWARE as they get rid of major assets SERVICES, SOFTWARE and the people that know the INDUSTRIES.

This is the week of performance reviews. Gives them the perfect excuse to lay off en masse.

I heard that it's roughly 10% of the HPE employee base. Reasoning - employee expenses were just too high to maintain growth and profit levels. Since HPE has been HIRING a lot of people up until today, it appears that executive leadership hasn't been effective at looking forward. Then the whole CSC thing threw a wrench into things as well and who knows what the future holds as an HPE employee at this point.

I wonder how large is large. I was wondering if this was coming seeing as how there was mass layoffs @ CSC right after the merger announcement.

Not shocked at all. This happened to me years ago. I had a manager that disliked anyone with more knowledge than he had regarding the corporation and/or the industry. He spent 5 years iin high school and he called me to lay me off!! He, off course, is still there. HPE is full of weasels now. At HPE you cannot even think of respectfully questioning decisions. As with any HUGE company. the problem is in the middle management. Glad to be gone. It was like living in a Dilbert strip daily....
