The most important thing that you can be doing, starting right now, is saving at least $50 every pay for your next strike fund. This will give you approximately 8 weeks of pay, and if necessary, you can then use your union strike pay to fund your health benefits. Don't wait to start saving, 2019 will be here before you know it, and we must again be ready to fight, in order to keep what we have.

There will not be another Verizon contract. Fairpoint in talks with Verizon as of this morning. Fairpoint ceo very happy about all the give backs.
"You be better off hiring someone from the parking lot a Home Depot. At least they have integrity and a future."
Oh yeah, you know what you are talking about. Landline is an albatross to VZ. They would like to dump all of you with a quick Bill if Sale to anyone that can spell 'telephone'. What a moron you are!
@1goh - I think you will be disappointed in the quality of work you'll get out of the "RIF"-raf. You be better off hiring someone from the parking lot a Home Depot. At least they have integrity and a future.
" I might hire a riffed manager to mow my grass and clean my toilets"
Great idea jackass. Get back to your new grill and get a life.
I lost about 1400 in 7 weeks. I had 13k saved just in case. I still have 13k (minus a new gas grill :-). I will save more than 50 bucks a week and throw the 13k in a Roth to add to my pension when I take the voluntary EISP in 5 years. I'll have about 1.2 million at that time, I might hire a riffed manager to mow my grass and clean my toilets.
To 1slz,
That is correct. But, it does not change the point that the Union sweats when a contract offers the window needed to challenge them and potentially boot them out. Thx for the clarification
i beg to differ, 5 year contract from 2003 - 2008
The OP sounds like he is trying to soften the fact that most associates lost between $5,000-$9,000. Next time around, it's going to be a bigger fight, so plan to lose even more. Check out the Employee Rights Act and make sure the Union is really of value to you. The CWA has never allowed a 4 year agreement, as it gives it members the necessary window to throw them out. With a 3 year window, they gave a high paying bs job for life.
LOVE That pop in pension.
Union brags about how much money they make and yet they need to start saving $50 to prepare for 2019 to survive 2 months without pay :)
I haven't seen my supervisor in person in almost 2 years, 2nd level in 5. Everything is done by computer or phone. Who needs a supervisor, anyhow?
What a stupid post. Fuk off union - go away...
There won't be another strike. Verizon is within their rights to lock you out. Am what they did was wait too late to begin training replacement workers. And they never ramped up enough of them.
"Really? Who is going to run the company?"
Some guy in India from an Internet Cafe. He's going to email me,asking why I'm over running or that I've been idling for 7 minutes. If I don't respond quickly enough, were going to chat over webex.
"most of them will be jobless within the next couple month"
Really? Who is going to run the company? You idiots?
Don't waste your time saving, it's better to be prepared for a lifestyle change, as VZ is going to want you even less in 4 years, unless a change in control occurs sooner.
So what are you grilling at your union BBQ this weekend, Scabby the Rat?
