it is not only Follett. Other failing companies are dumping people for cheap labor from abroad. Allows the company to save about $15-$25k a person, and in its place, hire two Indian consultants for a 6-12mo stint. The result is poor quality of work, but you appear to have a staff. And certain laws do not apply so treating these temporaries allows those who don't wear the pants in the house treat them as a boss / slave owner. And should you voice an opinion, you are let go. If you haven't noticed lots of turn around from the consultants.
And as friends in the outside say, the name Follett is now trashed. Want a job, leave off Follett from the resume.
Follett sucks. “I’ve been laid off before, I can understand that,” he said. “But these visas were meant to fill in gaps for resources that are hard to find. This time the company actually asked me to transfer my knowledge to somebody else. That changes the equation.”
This is f---ing Follett. well-publicized episodes in which the companies laid off American workers and gave the jobs to foreigners on temporary visas.
