This article talks about how many IT jobs were lost in May and that telecoms accounted for the majority. Although the article tries to include Verizon strikers, not all of them were IT. I almost choked when I came across the statement about how companies are cutting back on contractors and consultants when AT&T is doing the opposite

ATT is using politics to show they are keeping employees. The only problem is no one asks where they are located. It is ATT's intention to use 95% off shore support for any job that can be done remotely and people who think otherwise are fools. My entire group was laid off in March. the work was moved to offshore and the CWA did not even make a squeak. The managers were also dropped and they were not even given the courtesy of being offered a job somewhere else.
Right AT &t hired more people overseas, than the total combined technology jobs created in UsS, great Post!!
I follow the economic stuff pretty closely and the analysts blaming the weak job numbers on the Verizon strike is silly because it assumes Verizon would have been hiring despite the strike. I've been reading for years there is going to be a hiring explosion in telecom for electrical engineers and that has never come to pass. The telecom industry is working very hard to do everything with less workers.
