Nothing has been sent to WARN Act yet as of June. No massive layoffs in July. Once that information is sent then you will know.

Your mom is getting laid off in July.

You should tell her now so the bad news isn't such a shock.

Just forget about the notion of performance-based layoffs. Poor performers have been long since exited in the first rounds. Phase 3 in 2015 already saw very strong talent having to be exited. And that is still continuing throughout 2016. It's just not yet a mass event. The first half of this year has been a steady flow that's easier to keep below most peoples' awareness level. But please just don't be fooled that it isn't happening and that another big layoff isn't coming again in a few months. The Company is just trying survive at this point and the only budget cuts left to make are entirely people-based at this point. That's not rumor or speculation, just a common sense fact. Do whatever you need to do to care of yourself and expect no loyalty whatsoever from the Company - that's become a luxury they can't afford. If you have a way out, start making your plans. If you are ready to retire, wait til they come for you - might as well leave with a severance package. Just don't tell them you're planning to leave in either case or you can forget about a package. Don't trust your managers. Take care of you. That's all that's left.

It wasn't just 'poor' performers who were cut last fall. I was cut and NEVER received a bad rating. So whoever said they weeded out poor performers shouldn't post such comments. Another in my group was cut and he had years of experience and skills. But for some reason the politics were to protect the young people who had barely and work experience in their entire life, and consistently cheat the company with non-worked hours that they are highly paid for. Then they had to go the other extreme and protect an older lady, who they knew had a history of going to HR because they were afraid of a lawsuit. Another was protected because of her original nationality and had suggested she could have sued a previous supervisor. So, the company plays a game.....but those who were protected in 2016 may not be so lucky this time.

"...Slow and steady..." layoffs just have everyone living in perpetual fear of their jobs with two working outcomes. Either one starts doing everything in their power to outperform and become indispensable, or one becomes so crippled with fear that things start to slide knowing they can catch up if they survive, or they're gone and so what was the point of trying to catch up.

Layoffs a year ago weeded out poor performers. Layoffs now invariably hit decent/good performers, but those who don't fit, said something that doesn't conform to the group-think concept, or somehow pissed someone off who has an axe to grind.

Last word from the executives was something like "No global mass layoff planned, but expect targeted layoffs globally". Layoffs haven't ended, they are just slow and steady now. Get use to it :)

HR cut 4 this week. What does that tell you. Be prepared. Update your resume. Network. Managers/directors will not be loyal to you!

You people are lucky. If you were in engineering you would have been laid off months ago. Once a project is over and you are non-billable, they send your butt to the house.

Not BS. I know of at least one person who was laid off. This person was told there would be up to 20% cuts coming soon. It's all starting again. This is just the beginning. Most activity will occur over the course of the summer. None of you have any reason to trust some anonymous poster online, but the sad fact is that you can't trust your managers either. They are just struggling to survive this too...who do you think they'll put on the chopping block? It's come down to you or them now.

Layoffs are a fact. They started again today. With the market like it is, no one in COP or even in our industry is safe. Don't be foolish. 10% layoffs is a best case scenario at this point. 20% is more likely.

With $30 billion + debt I really think that there will be continuous layoffs and benefit cuts until oil hits at least $65/Bbl. Creative accounting and management lies/misleadings only go so far.

Sounds about right 1,590 employees out the door and I bet if things don't improve you will see an additional 1,590 employees by the end of year just to clean up the balance sheet some more.

Might have a ring of truth! The rumor is floating around in SJBU, and all the managers are going to a meeting in Houston?
