Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Sure the union put out what they won.......

Ok so the union has put out their "winnings" but doesn't it scare the crap out of you when you read it because there is noting in there that states what the company won. Lets face it people the union didn't get any of that unless they gave something up. What was it? the more the union got the more it scares the hell out of me to think what the company may have gotten in return.

"Company got the two main things they wanted. First, reduction in healthcare. Second, ability to offer yearly buyouts to reduce Union through attrition."

Not really a win for the company. It's all inevitable. Everyone on both sides expected this and we all assumed we would contribute more for medical. And any EISP will most likely be enhanced and help out employees as well, especially those who already are on the way out.

This had nothing to do with the issues at hand or what was presented or expected.

Company got the two main things they wanted. First, reduction in healthcare. Second, ability to offer yearly buyouts to reduce Union through attrition. Bonus was call center routing to any call center in footprint. Union got no movement of workers, that the company already took off the table weeks ago. Second for Union was another year with a 2.5% raise, which is lower than the standard 3%. Union did some call centers jobs and a few wireless employees that are around the amount of members that quit the Union to cross. Hmm.... That is what 7 weeks a pay equals?

The company did get something big... they get more than 35,000 trained, competent employees put in place Wednesday to run the business, in place of the hillbilly scabs and shoe salesmen EWAs who were going through the motions.
