Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

EWA's Off To The Gallows....CWA's Off To Work, Completely 100% Job Security Protected, With A Raise.

Please give me your arguments against the Union again, Maybe I'm missing something in translation here, because there doesn't seem to be much of an argument.

Do you have a guaranteed contract that gives you the ability to work, be paid well, with medical benefits to support your family?

Verizon is a hugely profitable company with a leadership that is very well compensated complete with their Guaranteed Golden parachutes worth tens of millions of dollars each.

You built this Company, You work hard for this Company, Your the reason why it's profitable, why not stick together not be Rif'd for some made up number, to appease someone, and get your golden parachute. You deserve it. Your family deserve's it, You earned it.

The main argument against unions is that no on respects them (except the union members), and most people feel like unions enable employees to be lazy and do the bare minimum while keeping high performers from getting ahead.

Part of the reason union people need unions is because no other company is going to hire you knowing you were part of a union; companies don't want lazy, unmotivated and entitled people.

But hey, if you're happy being in a union and not embarrassed to tell people you're part of it then good for you!

No your right that doesn't make sense...."if someone has a person who does their yard work"..."helped build and maintained your yard" But I'm not earning money from my yard, If i did, I would have treat the yard caretaker appropriately. The caretakers hard work, and dedication is earning me money. That does make sense.

Your right that the Union Management work environment is horribly toxic to put it nicely. There is a lot of resentment among managers toward the Union workers, This resentment builds to the point of the managers only recourse....Discipline. Managers way overstep there power authority if only to hurt the Union employee out of their own frustration with their status in the Company.

Who gets hurt in the crossfire.........the Customer.....Now that makes no sense.

I don't have guaranteed employment but i do have great pay and great healthcare coverage. I wouldn't say you have 100% job security, no one does, but that's a whole other argument. I would not want to be in a union or have your job. Your job atmosphere sucks, the whole us against them is ridiculous, managers always trying to find something you guys did wrong, etc. and to me it is not worth working that way. I wouldn't say i built this company, i contribute to the company to which i get compensated nicely for. With your way of thinking, if someone has a person who does their yard work, the worker should have 100% job security with a pension since they helped build and maintained your yard... and since you make 150,000 a year with a pension it should be you who supports them... doesn't make a lot of sense does it?
