Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

You'll be working for Frontier or Century Link soon. What you think about that?

“They needed to end the strike and they bit the bullet," said Roger Entner of Recon Analytics. "In my opinion, it reinforced their commitment to basically exiting the least profitable, most problematic part of the business.”

The new contract "gives Verizon four years basically to get rid of the unit. Let it be somebody else’s problem,” Entner said.

F#CKING STUPID COMMENT. If wireline were such a "problem", who would buy it? Just stupid.

Potomac wireline is enormously profitable and VZ would NEVER let it go.

I think that pretty much the wireline employees would rather be owned by another company. Any company that bought wireline would do so wanting to be in the business.

Lets not blame McAdams for anything really. He did come from the wireless side and was selected because of his background. I am sure I heard a thousand moans when his name was announced as CEO. We all knew then what it meant and that being wireline was on the ropes. We just did not fully know how it would turn out.

Now we do and honestly, I could work for Frontier or for Verizon just as long as who ever it was had an interest in growing wireline instead of using it to fund growth for the wireless side.

Where do I surrender my old VZ shirts and ID and pick up new Frontier ones? Can I report June 1st and start working for Frontier, and not Verizon? That would be a dream come true.

Anyone familiar with Century Link knows darn well that they won't be touching VZ's East Coast territories with a ten-foot-pole.

Been wishing that would happen since Ivan left. One of the last ceo's to work his way up even if he was being groomed he still went through the ranks and understood the job.

Also, on 20 May of this month, we'll be locked out and our jobs considered to be "abandoned." Thanks, Nostrodamus -- or is it Nostrodumbass?

I rather work for another company, an organization interested in wireline and fiber. Although Lowell may not be around for very long so maybe not...
