The union gets to go back to a menial job in which a monkey with a week of training can perform adequately. I get to go back to my job as a software developer and actually use my brain for the first time in 5 weeks. Oh, and as for rifs, bring them on. I will find another job that pays equal or better as I have been doing throughout my career. That is what happens when you have marketable skills...unlike union folks who can only work for one company or end up homeless.

Your marketable skills are abundant in the ny area. Average 90k with half the benefits and no retirement/pension options. Also that skill set can be performed anywhere in the world for 1/4 of the salary. RIF

I love all of these EWA's bragging about what they make but give them some overtime over 7 weeks and they act like they hit Lotto lmao so tell your story walking you pieces of sh-- and jump from job to job if that's what you really want to do although I'm not buying it

I will have 30 years at the end if this contract, and I can retire. I will be 51 years old. With a full pension, full Medical, and a 401K that i have been contributing to from the get go. I'm gone, and set for life. I'm not the only one this fortunate, There are plenty around me close to, or the same. I'll be heading someplace warm, quite, friendly and hopefully safe. So in my case, and many thanks to my Union, I'm getting the last laugh. But I earned it.
I totally agree with marketable skills. Same here man... I want to be RIFed so I can get severance and take 5 month long vacation and then find another job which I get 5 offers a day coz I am one of the few 15000 that exist in the world based on my education and certs.., and Union.... Hahahaha if VZ fires them... Only Burger King can hire them ,,. These delusional turds have no ambition and IQ level of a 5 year old....they only know how to splice .... Whereas I am a FIOS level 4 engineer and work on million dollar equipment that's bleeding edge...not 4 decades old DMS these Union turds work on.... Heck they don't even know what DSL or DSLAM or ASAM Stands for... They can't even spell IP... Only skill they have is putting scotch locks on which a 5th grader can do as long as you are not color blind. Oh by the way I work from each home 5 days a week.... Making over double what these over paid slobs make...get a reality check...it's not rocket science,,, I feel I haven't used my brain in last 45 days even for 45 minutes

lol VZ doesn't develop it's own software. It's contracted out and leased from 3rd parties.
Legacy systems that were developed in house were from 40+ years ago and all but phased out.
If they were doing the job so well, Verizon would use them for the rest of the year.
I can get a 12 year old in Viet Nam to develop software for a dollar a day.
Get that same 12 year old to splice a 4 way with a 1200 in and a 900 and two 600's out. Pulp in the underground.
You shouldn't brag about developing software for Verizon. Our IT department sucks opossum ass
