Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

So, does anyone know how many more layoffs are likely before end of year?

Because the oil industry and the economy are not looking good. Oil in the U.S. Is shut down, and globally there isn't much going on. What do you think, because I still see major layoffs coming down the road

It's hard to put a number on it. Basicly we are working at a loss on every job, and numbers will be reduced until that changes

I agree with the 20,000.... It seems that there are reducing 5k per quarter. Don't look for the oil and gas market to bounce back until mid 2017!

So I would suggest to either hang on and stay low key, and/or think very seriously about making a career move outside the oil and gas industry until this market picks back up.

But on the other hand if you like to swim and a piranha tank, stay where you are, because there is about to be a lot of back stabbing and biting..... I already have a new job and will leave right after summer break when my kids go back to school.

Other than oil and gas, the economy is blowing and going. Don't go believing in what the media feeds you. Wages are stagnant because employers keep looking for some one who will work for less than you, putting downward pressure on wages. Perhaps it is time for unions to start working for their members to gain leverage on employers rather than work only for the benefit of union management. Do you see a similarity between unions and current management actions? I think not. It is all about transfer of wealth to senior management. They used to be sneaky. Now they don't care that we know it. Doesn't say much for us, does it?

I am devoutly anti-union but have noticed that the weakening of unions and wage stagnation have occurred at the same time. Coincidence?
