Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Values

AT&T values telling a manager/leader what she wants to hear above all else.

It might especially keep you safe in a surplus.

And no that's not what every company over 100 people are about.

There are some cultures who value opposing views and different perspectives. It actually helps to create great things.

Status quo may not rock the boat today....

But it's actually dangerous to a company's well being especially a so called tech company which T claims to be now.

"You CANT move ideas without influence"

Im amazed at how t throws in Harvard review material on leadership in management. It's like lwd, all theory. How many times have I listened to these town halls, lwds, and mgt specials etc and thought wow I don't even know this att or I want to work for THIS company they keep hyping. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Donovan, Stanley and Stepenson live in some sort of guilded cage. Out of touch thinking Harvard review (and I love hr) will fix how sick and pathological t really is. It's amazing. But it does get back to the point on the art of bull shi$t. These guys are salesman. Stephenson is especially slimy to me because he can go on these road shows being some kind of evangelist, but he cares only about the bottom line. He'll take a salary he doesn't even earn. How do you look at your bank balance knowing you created nothing. Your essentially moving money around, robbing peter's line item to pay Paul's.

One thing is for sure. It really is all about selling. Don't get me wrong selling is good. You can move ideas without influence....but to quote an old Wendy's commercial..."where's the beef"?

Being able to hear different opinions makes you smarter and stronger. That's not what our managers can or want to do.

2020 is to keep you fully engaged.

They say you will be a part of 2020 vision if you do......Take all of the training classes. Keep your head in the job.

AT&T needs you until they don't.

Do you think they really want to make you feel valued? ATT is telling people to take various courses to use as an excuse to dump people who don't complete or miss training. Ask around and you will see the same requirement being placed on a lot of departments. What good is a degree in computer science when working on network systems? If they outsource to data centers as they did with OnStar and Connected car totally bypassing the existing ATT data centers and it employees. Outsourced centers cost less and no payroll or medical expenses for employees.

Take your head out of the sand.
