We're going back to work which is good and bad. Good because we need the income, but bad because they still have some items to negotiate.

I'm with you on this one. I wouldn't want to be in Shelton's skin for one split second, and here's why:
He knows - better than anyone - how pissed off people were with the last contract and the sellout that it turned out to be. That many locals on the East Coast - including his own 1101 - went through major leadership changes as a result of this. In other words, that all eyes are on him.
Make no mistake here, NY is ready for another '89 - possibly even '71 - and my hunch is that the rest of District 1 is on the same page. Union can't really afford such a turn of events without major financial consequences. On the other hand, Shelton knows that he'll be voted out of the office in a NY minute if he screws this one up...and the moment of UI benefits for NY kicking in - making the life of the striking workers easier - is just around the corner.
We'll know something by the end of next week. Either we got sold out and are returning to work no later than 06/06, or we're out until Labor Day at the very least.

THERE WAS TOO MUCH ANGER AT NOT HEARING ANY NEWS SO THE UNIONS HAD NO CHOICE. I ALSO WAS TOLD NO SIGNING BONUS AS WAS INCORRECTLY PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AND OFFICES CLOSING BUT ONLY TWO. UNION/VERIZON PREPARING FRIDAY NIGHT STATEMENTS AND MANDATORY REPORT TUESDAY JUNE 1
I heard same thing. Pension cap is 30 yrs. If union didn't take it we wouldn't have returned. Stipulation can never be changed for future contract. Good move, should have just done it in April.
