Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

DMC Layoffs Wreck Havoc on Duncan Economy...Multi Million dollar impact in 2 days.

You wont see this headline in the Duncan Banner (BANANA) or from the Economic Development. But if you add the salaries of all the people let go during the past two days, you get a million DOLLAR+ effect on the Duncan Economy. Not to mention the taxes and revenue from water sales and electricity to Halliburton for all its buildings. The Impact is Huge. That doesn't even count the contractor companies and others laying off in the industry. Not to mention the state Budget cuts coming to all state agency offices in Duncan.

That will be interesting with all that equipment sitting there, and typical. We saw that at our camp; they ran into an environmental issue, the lawyers worked out a deal to sweep it under the rug. Not long after we were shut down and moved.

Will the local 'newspaper' even report on the layoffs at the manufacturing center?

Or, are they so beholden to Halliburton that they will just ignore it?

I went in their office right after the layoffs began in 2014, and the editor refused to tell me about the number of affected employees at that time.

We saw what Halliburton thought of Duncan, when they f---ed over Ray Meirs, and French, the IH truck dealership.

Good luck with Duncan getting any new large businesses. It's NOT close to I-35 and the whole city is in disrepair with horrible streets and litter everywhere. Letters come EVERY month with the water bill saying the water is safe to drink.......yeah right! And, they don't have any money to take care of the recreational lakes. What a joke.

All of these machine shops are out of business and Wilco is almost shut down. Is Duncan trying to get companies in here.

No jobs in Duncan when it comes back everyone will go back that's been going on for years. Duncan won't get any real competition in town and they let halliburton get away with polluting our water and town. It's time for a change in don't think any company worth a damn will come to Duncan until halliburton goes completely out.

Hey keep buying foreign oil instead of sending the ships back to towel land. Once all of the ships are full and it can't go anywhere prodution will be cut back. It's sad that we are letting them run our economy.
