The union employees on strike have many direct links to the people working front line service right now. This rosey picture that some people post here are coming from inside the company to try and demoralize the union workers on strike. Ignore the person behind the curtain, we receive all the reports directly from our friends ( sources ) in the company. They are failing, worried and concerned for the customer and the company as are we. Our CEO has painted himself in a corner and at this point doesn't know how to resolve this issue without loosing face. The company is failing much more rapidly than they expected, no qualified workers rushing to their defense EWA workers realizing they will be cut loose after the dust settles. Lowell is aware now that poor business decisions have consequences that cant be resolved by robbing Peter to pay Paul. You cant readily find employees vested in the success of your company when the flavor of the month changes on the whim of the out of touch CEO.

Show me the huge lists of DEMANDS? Unless you are referring to the long list of GIVEBACKS that the company is demanding, then PLEASE show me them! Why should we give back when this company makes sooooo much $ that it's disgusting? Go sit under a rock for a little while longer please. Here is a better idea. Go and talk to some on the line and ask them why we are out instead of just reading COMPANY emails or listening to COMPANY radio commercial or everyday full print COMPANY news advertisements. A different perspective might actually show you the truth.

Please learn more as to why we are on strike. The MAIN reasons are shipping jobs overseas and forcing us to do the very thing I see these ewa people bitch about. Send us away from our families for two months with just a days notice. We as a union can and will fight for this. Stop bitching about us, by yourself, and the the unions worry about themselves. You make me laugh. There is AlWAYS someone bigger, badder or smarter than you who is willing to do a job for half of what you get paid. Your probably more succesptible to this than the craft worker. We have a union and a voice. You on the other hand don't. Trust me, their are plenty of people out there willing to undercut YOUR job and if things continue, they will. Your right they weren't. The problem is that our politicians sold out the workers and let the corporations rape and pillage the manufacturing base of this country. And sorry to say but most of those burgher flipping low wage workers work harder than most of you pencil pushers will ever have to. Another difference is that they have a soul!
Jobs at McDonalds and WalMart weren't meant for a family of four to survive on, yet some of you seem to think that having a low end job "entitles" one to get paid more than the job is worth. It doesn't.
Unions do a great job of getting their people more pay and benefits than they are worth, so I'm not surprised you're so fond of them. But this strike is an example of why unions have outlived their usefulness; this union is striking over pay and benefits that most people would love to have. Customer service reps are paid SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS PLUS A PENSION AND 401K yet it's not enough.

You obviously don't know what you get with a union because you don't have one! For what I pay the union, I receive at least double back in compensation. All you business know it alls who claim we are overpaid, even though it's not true, just ask Verizon they are offering MORE $, fail to realize we make what we make BECAUSE of the union. You have been hoodwinked by the rich. They project all their negatives to the working man, union and non-union, and put the people against each other. Look at Walmart and McDonald's. Most of their associates, new terms so they take no responsibility for them, have to resort to welfare and other social services because they are not paid a living wage. What that means is that we the people are subsidizing corporate profits. Most of the people who have no rational thought process only see the welfare people as the problem. All the while ignoring the real problem, the corporations. Corporate welfare will be the downfall of this country. Whether it be through profit subsidizing, tax laws and direct support with the taxpayers, yours and mine, money. Wake up steeple. This is bigger than union/non-union. This is about survival of the middle class.
I used to work in wireless and made $200k. It certainly wasn't peanuts, and it was a much better work atmosphere than wireline where everyone is panicked about diminishing revenue and profits.
If wireless is so profitable then how come verizon treats those people like p--p and pays them peanuts ?
Is the EWA situation optimal? No. Is it doing what it's supposed to do which is keep the business going while the union refuses to work? Yes.
Spare us the overdramatic "the company is falling apart without us" stuff. I can assure you it isn't. Obviously anytime 40,000 employees refuse to come to work some things are not going to run as smoothly as normal. But one thing this situation has proven is that 10,000 can almost do the job of 40,000.
It certainly isn't creating or furthering the perception that the union is underpaid or overworked.
Get a clue all you union workers...you're not the end all be all of Verizon considering the wireless side is much more profitable than wireline. Many people in other states, like here in Michigan, do the same job as you and don't have to pay for a union that does nothing but take your money and claim its for your own good.
You better hope we come back soon and bale this place out or you wont have a company to work for!
It seems you guys are floundering, don't try to BS we're not stupid. No one believes that your maintaining the workload oh I forgot it all looks fantastic when the scrubber is running lets tell the public about that. By the way installs are out three weeks now and service is questionable because its raining but no worries the scrubber can take care of those calls, Maybe we should call the FCC or PUC and see how many of those calls are being completed.

I'm averaging 2-3 Fios installs per day, probably not as good as the Union, but getting it done.
I am an EWA and have friends in the union from my days as a tech. I tell him we are tired and backed up and that I am working slow even though that is not the case. 1st I do not want to gloat or discourage them while they are out of work and second I want them to leave me alone crossing the line. So I would take whatever your inside contacts say with a grain of salt.
