Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Don't cross next week! Please! We are all in this together.

Call your local if you have health care concerns after first of month. Cwa has your back.

"Union begging for people not to cross"

if OP/thread starter is a union member then I am Santa Claus. And boy oh boy are many folks posting here getting coal come end of the year...

People crossed in '89. And in 2011. And they'll be crossing in 2016 as well.

A vast majority of strikers that I've spoken with are far better prepared financially than they were in 2011. Ready to pull off another '89 - length-wise - at the very least.

"The Vz training centers are stuffed with replacements learning your jobs."

Anyone who has ever seen the inside of a VZ training center will tell you that they've learned next to nothing - and I'm being kind here - over there. It's the real world that shapes one into a good/average/bad craftsman over the course of years.

"Vz ultimately wants to wash there hands of the union."

They most certainly do, but it's not going to happen this time around. And, BTW, it's "their" not "there" in the given context.

At last count 1159 Union workers have crossed. Expect that number to double this friday. The Vz training centers are stuffed with replacements learning your jobs. Vz ultimately wants to wash there hands of the union. Despite what your stewards are telling you that your reps are fighting the good fight its all false. Right now, at this very second the union leaders are begging to negotiate a lesser deal and Vz has them by the short hairs. Stockholders have already read the long term reports and profits will rise sharply without the union..... Perhaps you may want to look out for your self and family......... Vegas odds has the union losing.

People have had 4 years to save for a potential strike and can't even last 1 month of paying insurance! Complete financial morons! So much for sticking together. The retards who couldn't put a lousy $40-$50/week aside for 4 years would live paycheck to paycheck even if they made McDipshit's money

"you can and will be replaced"

Says an expert on the subject of labor laws. OMG. No. You've obviously failed that class.

"Cross. Resign your membership"

This is actually - in reverse order - a sound advice for those who are intent on crossing. Resign first, though.

With that said, unless you have a management spot lined up already, you'd be wise to re-think the concept altogether.

To any, and all of you who claim you will cross...all I have to say is you people are the weakest individuals one could ever imagine..its only day 11..you have all had 4+ years to prepare for what we all knew was coming. Instead of being responsible and precautionary by saving money you probably just knew in your heart that you would just as well BETRAY your coworkers anyway. And as far as healthcare is concerned you can get decent coverage for about 400 a month. Tired of these weak people and there BS excuses. If you do cross then F off

No one is crossing. We had one cross in Lowell, MA., who also crossed last strike but that's it. If our jobs go overseas all the first and second level mgrs with and without reporting people are gone too. Anyone posting here they are crossing is a company troll.

Remember everyone if you see a scab crossing, get his or her name and report it to your local

Where is this place where everyone is crossing? Give us the location. I don't know of a single person, and I have been at huge rallies for days.

Not happening where I am working. My local is strong, nobody is going to cross. Personally, I would NEVER cross, but come on honestly who is going to cross after not even 2 weeks? Does that even make sense?I have never heard of such a loser in my entire career.

Ridiculous. I call bullshit on this story.

@gxh that's why I'm on strike to keep my job and paycheck. If Verizon wins my job goes overseas and my center gets closed...

@qhs That's disappointing. I think it's selfish to cross.. All of us are holding for the future of good jobs.. If anyone is short on money and needs a loan call your local. I'll gladly donate some if it means you don't have to cross.

Cross. Resign your membership. The union dues not care for you any more than Verizon does. At least Verizon pays you instead if collecting dues for essentially nothing.
