It makes no sense to me. Then again, these are people who will never be content with anything. Some people just can't be happy unless they are complaining.

More anti-union rhetoric blah blah blah.
Verizon is being a sh!tbag employer and corporate citizen. Everyone knows it.
This strike is one way the employees here have a voice.
Don't like it? GO WORK SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Don't work here? Then you don't get it. Sorry.
90% of these posts are from people not even working here. TROLLS!!
This will carry us right into the heart of the election season. Then Verizon's anti-American plans to send good paying American jobs overseas and import more H1Bs, rather than reinvest in America will be on display for all to see.
Politicians who are always looking for examples to make a point will be able to point to the Verizon Strikers, where the company can be easily portrayed as picking the pockets of Americans.
Picture the company selling you a tier 1 service for top dollar, but then fires the American workers supporting those services, and ships the service and billing jobs to India, and pockets all those savings as bonuses. Then, on top of that, being ratted out by their own online news service, for using some really slick accounting tricks, to pay almost nothing in taxes. Pure mathgic.
@qjt...you may be right. But do me a favor after the union is dealt its final death blow, please feel free to approach one of the unemployed union members and voice your opinion to his face. best wishes!
It sounds like the union "problem" will be rectified in a couple of weeks when the lockout gets here. At that time, the ones who want to be at the company can come back to work without their current fear of retribution from the union, and the rest of them can go collect unemployment and look for their next employer to complain about.
Just hang tight and things will improve.
Would lose money if I left now. Hundreds of thousands as a matter of fact, so why would I go. Also, it's always possible to make things better, the sheep are the ones who don't fight for better conditions.
@ jlg
Agreed. That said, what kind of gullable dumb arse would EVER EVER EVER trust ANYTHING that comes out of a corporate mouthpiece? You would have to been born yesterday to think that a modern corporation is going to utter anything but lies in most scenenerios, ESPECIALLY when it comes to contention with its employees.
To Mio, good post. Sometimes we start to think that the loud mouthed troublemakers are representative of the union workforce. Clearly there are some very talented associates on the team. Hope this all works out.
You're right. I don't like Verizon, I don't like my manager and I don't like how my future here is shaping up...BUT... I like my job. And yes it is possible. Why? I'm good at it! I like seeing customers, I like making a difference(however small) In Their lives. I'm proud to serve MY customers! I say MY because Verizon has given up on them but I haven't. Verizon has made every effort to neglect and destroy it landline/Fios customer base(I could give a thousand examples but I won't just trust me you'd be appalled). I look at it like this, without customers I have no job. Verizon doesn't , they look at it like, without the customer we can save money and make more $$. I guess it's just a fundamental difference with ethics. This is big business so ethical behavior is a pipe dream. So to anyone that thinks we're lazy Union fat asses that should quit if we don't like it, should know that 90% of the folks I work with take their jobs and there customers seriously and all we want is for Verizon to take us seriously.
Could 40000 people all be wrong about how bad it is. Who is more believable the 5 execs up top or 40000 people . Somebody is not telling the truth.
@H2p2bev , your doing exactly what your talking about in your post "complaining", guess your not happy.
a 6% raise isn't good enough
but look everywhere else, no one gets that these days
It's called having a big fat pension that we don't walk away from.. DUMB ARSE..
OP what a d^ckhead you are. You the kind that makes us all look bad. I would love to see your Hurrican Sandy pics, figuring out how to untangle all of that telecom tangle, without getting zapped. I bet you were sitting on your fat assall through that.
