Post ID: @H2fcErb-wgz No.. the 30 and under's are changing with the time. You are living in a legacy world that they do not want to be part of. It's really that simple. You must not be in that demographic. I am not but my eyes are wide open and I read.
That is because the company has strarved the copper customers of reinvestment and is not changing with the times. Most people would be willing to pay 10 - 15 per month for a reliable copper POTS line. It is the only thing that works for 911 when the lights are out. That is, assuming the company maintiains the plant - but the don't and blame it on the craftworkers and garage bosses. But the problem is really in Building 4 in Basking Ridge.
How many years have we had with people giving up their landlines at 10% a year? The percentage of under 30's without a landline is staggering. These kids are bound to their cell phones and for all content.
This is will only excelerate as time moves forward and old crusty bastards like us die off.. FIFO..
I had a buddy who was a craft worker in Philly who told me a story that just dumbfouned me. He was able to get back into a garage after being forced to take a white collar gig till he get get back into I&M. After something did open up in a local garage, he would still stop by now and again.
He told me that the senior management was so averse reinvesting any capital into cable and copper, that they had a handful of techs down a manhole for days butt splicing pairs back together on an ancient 600 pair cable. This is the kind of stuff that drives away customers, drives down revenues and drives up costs.
You do know the PUC and the Unions are agents of the company right? Every contract since 1989 in the Northeast has been retrogressive.
@H2fcErb-zwz I was told after the 2011 Strike that the company had absolutely no plans to reinvest or replace any of the third world looking copper plant. Of course the OSP is failing and the company is losing cutomers when the company won't even marginally maintain it so they can play silicon valley.
That all started with managements hit and run strategy. No permanent fix, 4 jobs a day no matter what needs to be done.
OSP pictures coming up, we are currently taking pictures of outside plant problems that have been knowingly overlooked for years. We at this point have over 100 pics of poles, loops, drops, terminal, cases, sac boxes all in dangerous disrepair. PUC will have plenty of evidence as to the neglect and public hazard these conditions present.
