Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Enterprise results were awful, again

Shammo : "In the Enterprise space secular and economic challenges remain. But we are seeing stabilization in the rate of decline on a constant currency basis. In the first quarter Global Enterprise revenue declined 3.1%. On a constant currency basis it was down about 2.6%. In our Global Wholesale business revenues declined 4% in the first quarter. Trends for both Enterprise and Global Wholesale remain consistent with 2015 results."

This poor performance no matter how you slice it. Competitors like Level (3) are grabbing share from VES. Embarrassing.

Gerry Horgan?! thought you hit your head and went to the Perpetual Happy Hour in the sky. Did you try to jump on the pearly gates when they would not open them for you?

Did that report mention that all of the bills are charged to the wireline side? It's true.

The company executives are just embarrassed to be a dumb pipe company. That is the problem. There are no telecom leaders here. Only execs who want to be Wall Street Superstars of managerial mahem.

The company execs, you can never classify them as leaders, were never content to be running a low margin, low growth, massive profit business. Too boring. So they have missed every single major change in the field while chasing rainbows.

VES has been nothing more than a turd when purchased from MCI Worldcom for pennies on the dollar.

Verizon tries to polish this turd along with other aquired turds like AOL, Redbox, Terramark and many others.

Meanwhile out here on the west coast, companies like Google continue to build out fiber aggressively. So Google sees value in fiber but Verizon does not. How does that work? One of these two companies is flush with cash and has stock that trades at over $700 a share...

It's as close to intentional as they can get. Giving up your revenue streams to be able to say to regulators that the business is dead. The technology of 2069 will be what replaces this telcomm world of today. In the mean time we'll purchase failing companies and pray that customers come in to buy more CLA's. We also pray that one day your washer, dryer, furnace, fire place, garage door opener, door bell, will all need 5G chips. You know, all that stuff that is within WiFi range. All that stuff you just bought recently.

In the meantime this really good technology that the rest of the planet clamors for, fiber optic services, well.... we decided to, you know, f*uck it.

We'll lie and say its garbage that we can't seem to make a profit on. Due to workers, customers, regulations, the sun, the wind, the air, we just cannot seem to make a profit on it. We've been delivering services over a pipe into your home for 140 years but this new stuff....fiber optics.... It has us totally stumped. And we had the best of the best work on it and we determined that FiOS is junk. Trust us.

The Global Wholesale business allows out of region carriers to use the VZ network to connect to customers in-region. This allows our competition to have a insiders view of customers facilities in our footprint. This business makes no sense at all. VZ associates do a lot of the installs, I think VZ just likes keeping these people busy with obsolete T1 installs , otherwise it would make no sense to enable competitors like ATT, Level 3, Centurylink, Sprint on home turf. With 4% quarterly declines, maybe it won't matter, as this is dying. VZ needs to scale down the associates assigned to this flop, as well.

Yes, Enterprise has a robust retail staff. Unfortunately, they rarely sign any new meaningful contracts, only renewals of legacy contracts at reduced rates. Stratton has made no progress in this business. In fact, the rate of decline increased under his watch.

Jail time is a possibility if you are caught. You act as if Lowell and his crew is on the up and up, yet no one can explain the acquisition of trash companies and the talk of shelving FiOS. F the Wireline is dead theory because it is not; 30,000 - 35,000 install customers a WEEK is not a dead industry.

VZ wireless loss, is a result on enterpise, cooking the books, will send you to jail.

Being an idiot, and not knowing how to manage it will get you fired, but rich.

Think about it. NO ONE wants to go to jail.

This is why the contract is so hard for both sides.

Revenue is dropping, and the union wants to keep what they fought so hard to get.

(No trolling please)
