Thread regarding Follett layoffs

No Layoffs

The fiscal year is ending and no ädd'l layoffs. Thanks Easter bunny! Looks like everyone can breathe a sigh of relief and focus on moving forward. It's not easy but we need to stay upbeat if we want the company to get past the last couple of tough years. Who's with me?

What a joke! More layoffs the last day of the fiscal year! Poor people who have worked there for 16, 17, 20 years getting laid off!

My recommendations:

  • If you still work there, start job searching ASAP.

  • if you are a software company that is approached for acquisition, take the money and run and tell your employees to start looking. Or, if you care about your company, go elsewhere. They have failed with every acquisition.

WOW again?????? Twice in less than a month?????? I don't think even Sears did that to their own people. Maybe DG and CW have a new strat plan called "we failed, but we can blame". Darn to all those old dedicated Follett folks who grew the company successfully way before you arrived to destroy and get rid of all of them. Then we can hire more Sears people who obvious know all about retail operations, succession plans and eye on the prize! That is why Sears is the BEST place to work and Fellow Follett laid offers... use DG and CW as references there to see how fast that gets you in the door with an interview!

The mere mention of their names to Sears executives who worked with them reveals they were on their way out and are now a laughing stock in the industry.

Raise your hand if anyone knows why those two are still employed with Follett? Oh wait, Sears was really good at giving their notices in April, reposting the job in a different way, and then rehiring half the folks they laid off at a lessor salary;, could that be what the plan is?????? BTW, for those who don't know they were sued over it and lost their pants!

I don't work there anymore and everyday I check this board to see what is new. I worked my tail end off, time away from my family, long hours, most without gratitude but yet when someone asks my why I left Follett I sing their praises.

Folks, may it is time to start telling the world what Follett is really like as it has been sugarcoated for way way too long.

Layoff SS and his lap boys. if only the lap boys would do work and not screw up things due to their incompentece. Bring back those that knew what they were doing. Those that were leaders and not bosses. Those that knew tactical and strategic business acumen. Those who got things done efficiently and effectively. Perhaps these individuals were gone because they showed up SS goons and the only thing they could do is remove them to try and make themselves look good.

Am I bitter? No. I just want to deal with intelligent individuals who know what they are doing and not asking for the same bull**** that is given only to be asked for it again because these people don't know what they want or need.

The Family never fails to cash the dividend checks, that's for certain.

The Family, you know the Manson Family, had inflicted less damage than this band of career killers.

So yesterday they layed off people who they shouldn't. People who actually know what they are doing. The people at the top don't know what goes on in certain departments or how that will impact the company. My advise to you. Get out because you will be next when you least expect it. NQ, I give you two more years and you will be gone too. If you and your Cengage cronies last that long.

Are you implying that the Family has made bad decisions? They never fail!

There is no 'getting past' what has been done to this company in the past few years. They need to start removing the 'leaders' whose brilliant ideas got us into this never ending spiral of layoffs.

There may be no more layoffs, but there will be no fewer as well.

Keep in mind they are planning the next layoffs. There are more to come it is just a question of when. This is a sh-- show. And btw, if you quit, there is a "no replacement" rule so layoffs or not, the workforce will continue to decline due attrition. While less painful for those that quit (minus the severance), it has the same impact on the employees still present. More work, less people to do it. Less work that gets done, Follett profitability continues to slide-the death spiral. The only way to reverse this is through solid growth strategies.

Talk to IT staff working now with Infosys to outsource their own jobs. Sure, just relax, here's your sh-- sandwich. If you can quit do it now. Screw them they are no longer the company you were loyal to.
