Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Some words of wisdom....?

Many great leaders retired and / or moved on in the 18-24 months prior to the rise of new order. If you held an executive position, for more than 10 years & left prior to 2013, would love to hear your perspectives on the demise of this once great American company. To my fellow workers trampled underfoot by the new order, I hope you and your families are well.

Don't forget Ace Hardware! Book selling IS IS more than just retail. The stores are the boots on the ground and need the support of informed and experienced management and support to prosper. We are not aTarget store where people will buy anything just because it's out there. Neebo tried that and lost. I'm sorry for us all. Been through this before. This isn't the first company whose priorities are the bottom line these days. Seems to be epidemic. It's a shame.

Former VP. We all saw this happening with MLS and AO from the first town halls. They did not want to learn the business, and instead decided to remove the executives and replace them with Sears/Kmart/Office Max employees.

I am sure these replacements were qualified for normal retail, but the college bookstore business is totally different. Experience is critical.

Follett has lost its way, and unfortunately it will take many months, many mistakes until the knowledge necessary to effectively run the business is back. It is too late.
