Thread regarding Follett layoffs

The Eye of Amazon starts to turn towards education.

If the clock wasn't ticking for Follett before, it's definitely starting to now. Unlike Follett, Amazon can actually produce quality software and apps. Can a miracle happen and the higher ups at home office get their act together?

I agree with the last poster. This has all been about increasing the stock price. It was openly discussed by AO when MLS was introduced. The overall health of the company doesn't seem to factor into it.

Maybe many of the family live off the dividends of the company (only poor people work for a living). Their standard of living isn't going to be diminished due to the failing business. They don't care how the company is being run as long as their dividend check rolls in. Isn't that MLS's opening statement to the associates when she was introduced by AO - her job is to make Follett stock increase in value? They don't care how much money is wasted by the bone heads running the company as long as they get their money so they can live the rich life. Hey, they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth!

In the meantime, Follett continues to invest millions in eFollett and a new POS to replace functioning ones. Invest wisely as you only get one chance with this level of competition. Has Follett ever heard about fail fast? They have been trying to shove the ORPOS down our throats for 4 years. Face it, it is dead and unneeded.

The fact that Follett is laying off and cutting benefits to pay the family dividends and not investing in the company shows that they don't see a future in the company. The end is probably nearer than you think.
