Stop complaining about the unfairness, bullying, and degradation. Take notes from the Trump protesters in Chicago yesterday.

I normally don't comment, i mean I'm a nobody with no college degree. I mean I'm just "lucky" to have a job right? Hahaha But I couldn't help myself this time. I have a really dumb question for you smart people. If Follett puts someone through school for that long wouldn't you say that person becomes an investment. And if that person is an investment why isn't Follet doing more to protect that investment instead of letting it walk out the door. Just saying.

Why don't you say what you are really trying to say. I should just be satisfied Follett paid for my education?

I am truly blessed that Follett assisted with my college fund. Assisted is key word. Regardless, I was greatful. I will always be. It wasn't easy leaving. I LOVED my job and I was damn good at it. I loved the friends I made throughout the years. I didn't jump ship after the first rejection. Do you really want to hear the whole sob story? The number of promotions I was not given a chance at? The tears I cried. Should i just settle for less and let them determine my worth because they assisted in putting me through school? I'm ashamed to tell you how many yrs of myself i gave the company because I was holding out for hope and hanging on to the false promises I was made. I however; am not ashamed that I finally gave myself back my self respect when I left. And even still i can turn back and say I'm greatful for everything I learned at Follett, the good and the bad. It's just a shame the story had to turn out the way it did. Follett has a lot of great talent and it's not taking advantage of half of it.

And did you receive tuition reimbursement for those degrees? Was that made possible by Follett?

To post id 2mss, Well said. Thank you.

As for post id 1eie. The city of Chicago remains ashamed? Although i do not agree with rioting or violence, Chicago stands proudly against everything that Trump represents. So speak for youself there.

I do agree with you on one point though.I'm the only one holding myself back. I'm a minority who earned their associates, bachelors, and masters all while working at Follett. It took me a while but all my hard work finally paid off.

So when opportunity finally came knocking for a better position in my dept. I was very excited to say the least. I was more than qualified. I knew the business, i was pretty much already doing the job, and i had respect from my peers and other managers outside my team. However the company went outside of Follett and in the end I was the only one capable of training them. So yes, that was all my fault for putting faith in people i worked long and hard for. I finally said ENOUGH and got out. Why? Because just like you said, it wasn't Folletts fault, it was my own for allowing them to take advantage of me for too long.

Trump supporters have demanded people with pro-Islam messages be thrown out of rallies (without the "protesters" saying a thing). Anyone with a competing candidate's logo will be thrown out.

Fact is these aren't political rallies, they're a gathering of like minded thugs who are demonstrating that political discourse isn't welcome in their 'Murica.

If we don't want our institutions degraded we have to fight for them. You're right. Follett is an institution. It has become a mean institution. It abuses and hurts and destroys. We don't have access to the positions to change this behavior. Withdrawing our labor is the most potent tool we have. In that, we're more like Sanders' supporters. A week of rotating sick outs may get some attention.

Trump cancelled his rally because he was afraid not because protesters disrupted his rally.

The city of Chicago remains ashamed. #1 in crime, #1 is murders and now #1 is disrupting a political events. The only one holding you back is yourself, not the government, not 'white males' and not Follett.

Only a person that has never gone through any of this (bullying, unfairness, and degradation) would make a comment like this. Congratulations, your one of hundreds.

Let me guess you are a white male or female or perhaps someone who has never had to deal with any type of racism or unfairness. You've always been promoted whether you worked hard or not. Life hasn't been always been easy perhaps but you've always got what you wanted in the end.

I know a manager who is always saying to the low pple "you know title isn't everything" but complains about how she should have her bosses position because they work harder amd know more. Now that is complaining.

So no,not all pple are complaining here. Don't group everyone all together.

I'm no fan of Trump, however:

Disrupting a political rally is the very antithesis of our Democratic system of government.
