I was a former employee of Follett and made a tough decision to leave this year. Never thought in a million years I would do so but I did.
As I read all the heartaches and turmoil I gotta reflect back on what the organization meant to all of the long timers and why it is what it is today. Are the Follett's done with the book business? Where oh where is Allison and her passion?? We all know but I think the last standing Follett who gave a crap left us in undo time.
It broke my heart to leave Follett as I love the company and what it stood for. Today, it's stands on merely a whim. I can't imagine any type of senior leadership or the board would support working without life balance and without the dedication of everyone who remains. Each and every associate right?? Laughable these days! Those were words I waited to hear for months on end and all the BS from changing leaders to my own boss who never showed a face or even made anyone matter in the department The department showed me Follett and its dedication went commercial retail. Who are you kidding? Ever think Sears was not doing well or Office Max? Whose brainiac idea was to hire folks who clearly did not know OUR business.
I am sadden at the amount of destruction the Follett family did in order to in my eyes destroy what they had. They don't feel sorry and are unaffected by the challenges everyone else faces in finding employment. From what I hear most were 20 year veterans. Hey Follett, those people GREW your business but yet you let them go. When does anyone from the Follett family address any of the concerns of people who really cared??? Had to chime in here.
I had to speak my peace as I never wanted to leave my role, but Follett family you left me with no choice.
