Town Hall

The upcoming town hall is intended to boost morale and present a path forward. Regardless of what they tell us, there ARE later RIFs planned for. It is not over. Management always reserves its right to change its position, as the Feb 1 employee communication makes clear.

There will be cuts in some of our glorious fringe benefits. Everything is on the table. One change that is already agreed upon is cutting Fridays off. Al will deny it but it has already been decided. It won't be effected immediately. They are just waiting to announce it.

The 9/80 schedule is a benefit to employees, not to the employer. Think about it- as a salaried employee, you typically work 8.5-9 hours a day regardless of the company expectations to be there for 8 hours. How many times do you come in early or leave late due to things going on that day, and yet you don't get those hours back later on. So yes, maybe the electricity and office costs are higher, but so is the worker productivity for a regular 5 day schedule each week. Worker moral is the biggest downside to the regular workweek, but which is better, to have a job or an extra benefit. Call me cruel, but it is the bottom line that counts in the end.

Is there other information that you can provide as well, such as a date for first round of lay offs?

There is not a cost benefit to eliminating Friday's off. What would be the point. You would actually incur more expenses by having more people in the office.
