Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Project manager who blew 100 million

How in the world does a Project Manager who blew over one hundred million dollars on a project still have a job at Chevron. This bozo lied about the status of the project and gave -2 scores to anybody who told him the project was going to fail.

What can you say about a culture that rewards failure and refuses to provide any accountability while protecting the made men and shuffling them to itc.

@Gf1Ogd4-2blp - When you have a person in ITC managing the PMO who has never managed a project successfully in his life, what do you expect. All he has done has add more overhead due to his being clueless on how to manage a project. His dumb idea of having PM's managing other experienced PM, just pisses off the PM's and adds more overhead. Doesn't hurt when your wife has a high position in HR. I am hoping I get the tap in the next ROM. I can't stand dealing with this incompetent.

Watson should change his last name to sanders already.

All these useless IT project managers have a guaranteed salary and bonus no matter how useless they are.

These parasites can't event put together their own schedules or powerpoint slides.

They require high paid change management consultants to do all their crap.

if Bernie wins all those 1%'res will have to give up some of those millions so they can be distributed amongst the rest of us. If you own more than two homes and they are vacant, they will be appropriated by the government and distributed to folks who can't afford a home.

Everyone will have a guaranteed income of at least $2,000/month.

Or we can stick around and tag team on the made folks who are awarding uncontested RFPs to their friends.

OP: "What can you say about a culture that rewards failure and refuses to provide any accountability while protecting the made men and shuffling them to itc."

You can say goodbye and go work somewhere else. Or volunteer to get laid off.

"What can you say about a culture that rewards failure"? Can you say, "High Potential Candidate"? I am sure the guy was promoted beyond his abilities and is soon to be promoted again! His PMP ranking is a 2+ for 2015....

How about we guess? Was it a CBRES executive?

If the person was trusted to do his/her job right and was not questioned much because this person kept bragging about he/she was managing everything despite the problems others were creating instead of taking accountability for his/her incompetence, it is not the executive's fault. I am really tired of seeing a few people taking credit for what is good and blame everything on everyone else. They are not that special. It is way past time to stop p pointing the fingers at higher ups and make everyone be held accountable.

When will the members of the DRB be held accountable? They are the ones that should be run off. Never mind, rhetorical question.

very possible, one manager gave $40,000,000 to a preferred vendor to build a facility, no bids, no cpdep just gave it to them and left FE to pick up the pieces.

If you need to spend that kind of money, you need approval from Excom, composed of very senior executives. So it can't be one single person's fault.

If Bernie wins? Chevron is a communist state.

Corporate welfare? Check

Communist manifesto (csoc, Chevron values)? Check

Reviews being made in a smoke filled room? Check

Nepotism? Check

People rewarded despite being useless? Check

It's simple. You guys are correct. The Deadwood needs to be cut out. That is in progress. Be patient.

First of all, no single person is responsible for spending (much less blowing) $100MM in Chevron or anywhere. There are certainly a few more higher-ups that approved spending at every phase of a project. So, call it a colossal failure or over expenditure, but no way blame one person for it. That's the reason this person who you blame is still on the job. To fire that moron would also mean you would need to fire the higher-ups as well. And that won't happen.

The company is good, it's a handful of shitty people who give the company a bad name. These shitty people must be outed. They exist in every group, lazy and incompetent but with the gift of the gab, these drain rats can talk themselves out of anything.

@Gf1Ogd4-dbx He doesn't name the person because he still has some decency. He may be venting and pissed off but he has some boundaries. Anyone that calls out a person by name and then hides behind an anonymous ID is a worthless piece of S#)@. And before you say I'm doing the same thing, I seriously doubt your name is @Gf1Ogd4-dbx

If you get a 2- it's not because your boss is out to get you. Usually it's because you suck. Stop making everything a conspiracy theory.

Why not just name the manager and the project name outright? F--- it. If you are going to put someone on blast then do it right. Not trolling I'm being serious, would love to know. Everyone, including green badges who don't have to do them, knows pmps are a joke and a popularity contest so I'm not surprised to hear of a manager abusing the "pmp process" to push out/silence anyone who doesn't agree with their opinion. Wouldn't be the first time and definitely not the last.
