Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Can you get laid off if you are there under a year?

Are you on the lay off list if you have been with the company for under a year? I am in an entry level position and am fresh out of college.

I been there a short while like 3 months and want to leave. I want to volunteer to get layed off but dont want my boss to find out that I did this. I hate my job.

Yes, but it's more likely you'll get a few years in. After that, you'll want to leave anyway because promotion opportunities are few and far between.

It's possible but unlikely. You may get caught in a larger purge, in that case you are hosed. Typically you will be in a low(er) cost situation, so they will have more latitude there - if they hired you straight from the college and in a college recruiting center they will be extra careful not to mess up the relationship with the college. I've seen this in 2000 when we hired a bunch of people due to .com boom and as soon as they started the market turned, we kept them as we had major concerns that it'll permanently damage the university career center relationships. However, the fact is, in 2000 we had a kinder, gentler and more confident HP...
