I'm all for the union staying out if they feel they are being treated unfairly. It is also clear that most EWAers would rather be home despite all the extra money they're making. Clearly VZ has calculated the cost of expense and damage to public image and has decided this time to draw the line in the sand. They wouldn't do any of this without running the numbers first. As time goes on some EWAERS will quit, some union members will be forced for financial reasons to return to work. More EWAERS are being trained at NCC to keep the pipeline of replacements full so if it goes more than 6 weeks they can start rotating them in. No way EWAERS can do the job as well as skilled craft, but clearly VZ doesn't care that much. Their math shows them that not negotiating will be better for the bottom line in the long run. I am hoping to see CWA worldwide financially support the strikers so they can stay out for months/years if necessary. They've got to have plenty of money somewhere. Time to use it.

The leaders pit us against each other. It's just like in politics. At the end of the day they all go have a drink together while we battle in the streets. We're all tools. So the best thing you can do is just do what you feel you need to do, look out for yourself and your family, and keep your head. If you screw up, neither the company nor the union will back you up this time around. Don't let anyway play you. Be your own man or woman. I'm sick and tired of getting played by those with an ulterior motive.
Why do I have to be against one or the other?They normally work side by side every day.

Unemployment begins 60 days after strike or upon a lockout. The company is screwed going into earnings and the Annual Meeting. Time for executive heads in the basket for calling this one completely wrong, and being caught totally off guard.
Not possible, the (money) well would run dry. Account payables would eventually exceed account receivables, and the CWA fund would be bankrupt.
